Cleaning Guidelines

Sensors

The following cleaning agents can be used with SleepSense® Sensors:

SaniZide Plus® Germicidal Wipes, CaviWipes™ Disinfecting Towelettes, Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disposable Wipes, Protex® Ultra Disinfectant Wipes, Opti-Cide3® Surface Wipes, Meliseptol® Wipes Sensitive, OptiCide Max® Wipes or Spray, Isopropyl Alcohol 70% or Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) 70%.

Always follow the use instructions on the cleaning agent’s label

Cleaning instructions:

  1. Using wipes:
    • If present, use a wipe to remove visible soil prior to thorough cleaning. Use as many wipes as needed, until all visible soil is removed.
    • Unfold a clean wipe and thoroughly wipe the sensor and its cable.
    • Leave the sensor to air dry.
    • Make sure the complete sensor assembly is thoroughly dry before storing or reusing it.
  2. Using a cleaning solution:
    • If present, remove visible soil prior to thorough cleaning, using a clean wipe / cloth. Use as many wipes / pieces of cloth as needed, until all visible soil is removed.
    • Apply the cleaning solution to a single use wipe or cloth.
    • Thoroughly wipe the sensor and its cable using the soaked wipe / cloth, to wet the complete sensor assembly thoroughly.
    • Leave the sensor to air dry.
    • Make sure the complete sensor assembly is thoroughly dry before storing or reusing it.
  3. Using a cleaning spray:
    • If present, remove visible soil prior to thorough cleaning, using a clean wipe / cloth. Use as many wipes / pieces of cloth as needed, until all visible soil is removed.
    • Option 1: Apply the spray to a single use wipe or cloth, until completely soaked. Thoroughly wipe the sensor and its cable using the soaked wipe / cloth, to wet the complete sensor assembly thoroughly.
    • Option 2: Spray directly on the sensor, until the entire sensor assembly is covered with mist.
    • Surfaces must remain wet for 10 seconds then allow to air dry.
    • Wipe any remaining mist using a clean, dry wipe / cloth.
    • Make sure the complete sensor assembly is thoroughly dry before reusing it.

 Do not submerge/soak the sensor or the cable in any liquid.

Accessory Bands for SleepSense® Sensors

Cleaning the bands:

  • Bands can be machine washed in a gentle cycle 
  • Any regular household laundry detergent can be used.
  • Attach the Velcro® hook tabs to the band before washing.
  • Leave the bands to air dry.
  • Make sure the bands are thoroughly dry before reusing them.
  • Alternatively, bands can be wiped / spayed with a cleaning agent. For using wipes / cleaning solution / spray, see sensors cleaning instructions above. 
SleepSense® Inductive Belts

SleepSense® Inductive Belts can be cleaned using one of the following cleaning methods:

1. Machine washing:

    • For 9010XX Belts: Insert the belt into the protective pouch supplied with the belt before placing it into the washing machine. For other belts: place the belt into the washing machine.
    • Use any regular household laundry detergent.
    • Set the washing machine to a delicate laundry program (temperature settings).

Washing temperature shall not exceed 105°F / 40°C.

    • Leave the belt flat / hang it to air dry.
    • Make sure the belt is thoroughly dry before re-use and storage.
Do not bleach.
Do not iron
Do not dry clean
Do not tumble dry

2. Soaking

    • If present, remove visible soil prior to thorough cleaning, using a clean wipe / cloth. Use as many wipes / pieces of cloth as needed, until all visible soil is removed.
    • The following cleaning agents can be used: OptiCide Max, Isopropyl Alcohol 70% or Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) 70%.

Always follow the use instructions on the cleaning agent’s label

Soaking solution temperature shall not exceed 105°F / 40°C.

    • Leave the belt to soak for at least 10 minutes.
    • Wash the belt with running cold water, to remove any remaining cleaning solution.
    • Leave the belt flat / hang it to air dry.
    • Make sure the belt is thoroughly dry before re-use.

3. Spraying

    • If present, remove visible soil prior to thorough cleaning, using a clean wipe / cloth. Use as many wipes / pieces of cloth as needed, until all visible soil is removed.
    • The following cleaning sprays can be used: Purell™ Professional Surface Disinfectant Spray, OptiCide Max® Spay or Mediclean® Disinfectant Spray Plus.

Always follow the use instructions on the cleaning agent’s label

    • Option 1: Apply the spray to a single use wipe or cloth, until completely soaked. Thoroughly wipe the sensor and its cable using the soaked wipe / cloth, to wet the complete sensor assembly thoroughly.
    • Option 2: Spray 3 to 4 seconds until the entire sensor assembly is covered with mist.
    • Surfaces must remain wet for 10 seconds then allow to air dry.
    • Wipe any remaining mist using a clean, dry wipe / cloth.
    • Make sure the complete sensor assembly is thoroughly dry before reusing it.
    • Leave the belt flat / hang it to air dry.
    • Make sure the belt is thoroughly dry before re-use.

3. Wiping

    • If present, remove visible soil prior to thorough cleaning, using a clean wipe / cloth. Use as many wipes / pieces of cloth as needed, until all visible soil is removed.
    • The following wipes / cleaning solutions can be used: SaniZide Plus® Germicidal Wipes, CaviWipes™ Disinfecting Towelettes, Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disposable Wipes, Protex® Ultra Disinfectant Wipes, Opti-Cide3® Surface Wipes, Meliseptol® Wipes Sensitive, OptiCide Max Wipes or Spray, Isopropyl Alcohol 70% or Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) 70%.

    • Unfold a clean wipe and thoroughly wipe the belt / apply a cleaning solution to a single use dry wipe or cloth.
    • Leave the belt flat / hang it to air dry.
    • Make sure the belt is thoroughly dry before re-use.
Thermal Airflow Sensors

Always follow the use instructions on the disinfection agent’s label.

  1. Wipe both nasal prongs thoroughly, from all sides. For loop shaped nasal prongs, wipe the inner side of the loop by pulling the wipe through the eye of the loop.
  2. Wipe the oral loop and all sides of the sensor.
  3. Wipe both wires, starting from the sensor-wire connection point, to a distance of approximately 10cm / 4”.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 using a second wipe.
  5. Leave the sensor to air dry.
  6. Make sure the complete sensor assembly is thoroughly dry before storing or reusing it.

Do not submerge/soak the sensor or the cable in any liquid.
